What do you do at Urban Communities?

As Controller, I oversee the accounting operations of the company and work directly with the CFO on the finances of the company.

What is your experience?

I spent the first two years of my career in public accounting with Ernst & Young performing financial statement audits for public and private companies. I then began working at DriveTime, a nationwide used car dealer and finance company, where I oversaw a large portion of the retail side of the company involving cost accounting and revenue recognition among other items. I have also earned my CPA.

How did you get into the industry?

I previously had the opportunity working with Real Estate clients while at Ernst and Young. Real Estate has always been an interest of mine so it felt like the perfect opportunity to grow more within this industry.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife whether that is traveling, hiking or any activity involving our dogs. I've recently taken my passion for BBQ food up a notch and spend most of my weekends outside with my smoker experimenting with new recipes and rubs.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given?

Success is about the journey, not the destination.
